Instagram testing notifications on new product collections

Instagram may soon enable companies to post notifications reminding users and potential customers on a new product collection launch.

Instagram has announced that at first it will cooperate with 20 US brands, including Adidas, Highsnobiety, Chinatown Market, Revolve and Huda Beauty.

A reminder will work similarly to the one users can set in Stories for general launches, but brands and creators will be able to use a new sticker in a more specific manner, with an option of purchasing via Instagram. A reminder will appear one day before merchandise drop and 15 minutes before sales launch.

Although this is just a testing phase, it makes sense for Instagram to search because artists and brands already use the platform for announcing their limited product series. At the moment, users have to post their own reminders.

Instagram has lately been investing efforts in becoming a flexible online shopping platform.
