LinkedIn as a job resource for freelance users: New option is underway
News - Mar 12, 2021
For some time now, LinkedIn has been developing a special service, aiming to connect users looking for specific services such as design, software development, etc. The idea is to help freelancers, so the service will function similarly to Fiver and Upwork. It means that, in the future, LinkedIn will enable simple connecting of individuals and companies.
The new service may be dubbed LinkedIn Marketplace. It expects an additional increase of the number of LinkedIn users, with the platform recording impressive growth in the past year. Last year also saw a leap of LinkedIn users who added the ‘open for business’ option to their profiles. Higher demand and supply was also registered for various freelance services among the platform users, especially in marketing, design, software development, etc.
It is also announced that the platform for freelancers is only part of a bigger plan of Microsoft for LinkedIn, including a digital wallet, where users can store money and pay to freelancers. Professionals such as writers, consultants or entrepreneurs would pay a subscription fee for content they post or have the opportunity to get paid for their work.
