TikTok has the first account with 100 million followers: A dancing teenage girl (16)

News - Nov 24, 2020

TikTok has got the first account which reached 100 million followers. It is young dancer and social media star, Charli D’Amelio. She is only 16, but before the SoMe career, she has been a very successful young dancer. Charli leveraged her talent to make videos for various platforms, with TikTok as her greatest achievement.

This is a huge number for any platform, especially this one, where other users are nowhere near to this figure. As of Nov, 22, 2020, the second most popular profile on TikTok is the one of Addison Rae, with 69.6 million followers, where Zach King is third with 52.8 million. All others have less than 50 million.

Those profiles have more followers than numerous celebrities, including Will Smith, Ariana Grande, and more than twice more followers that TikTok’s official account – 48.8 million followers.

Although this is a big achievement for D’Amelio herself, it also reflects fast growth of TikTok. It is interesting to note that the young dancer posted her first video on TikTok in May 2019, which means that this is an unprecedented growth rate for a SoMe profile.
