Twitter launched program against misinformation
News - Mar 02, 2021
Twitter has recently launched a special program, Birdwatch, with a task to check facts in posts on that SoMe platform. Thus Twitter wants to flag content containing misleading information. Fact-check is executed by users themselves.
It is a pilot program with about 1,000 users from the USA engaged so far. In the testing phase, those users can write notes next to Tweets turned out to be false.

Those notes are not publicly visible and can be accessed via the Birdwatch program only. The participants can also comment on and rate notes of other program users.
If this practice turns out to be useful and accepted by users, it will be available in other countries as well in the future. It is still now announced how long the testing phase will last.
